Mini-Symposium on Non-Linear Mechanics of Healthy and Pathological Tissue within the 4th Canadian Conference on Nonlinear Solid Mechanics

In context of the 4th Canadian Conference on Nonlinear Solid Mechanics CanCNSM 2013 that will take place at McGill, you are cordially invited to participate to a Mini-Symposium on Non-Linear Mechanics of Healthy and Pathological Biological Tissue.

The Symposium puts a special attention on the development and application of biomechanical constitutive equations to study hard tissues, soft tissues and bio-fluids. Theoretical, numerical and experimental contributions are welcome in the fields of cardiology, musculoskeletal system, ophthalmology, accident/impact and the general rheological modeling of organs.

The primary topics of interest include the development and application of models for soft and hard biological tissue:

Constitutive modeling Visco-elasto-plastic solids
Contact mechanics The porous solids
Fracture mechanics Rate dependent phenomena
Homogenization Impact and fracture
Heterogeneous mechanics Fatigue analysis
Multiscale modeling Mechano-transduction

The Symposium also has an interest in the clinical aspects of these models and their potential translation to diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic intervention and technology. In particular for the development of predictive models for the evolution of a disease and the evaluation of the bioperformance of prostheses in interaction with surrounding tissue.

We sincerely hope that you will join us in Montreal to make this event a success. We look forward to welcoming you at McGill University in 2013 !

Please make your submission in the usual way. Only a two page abstract is required and, if accepted, it will be incorporated in the book of CanCNSM 2013 proceedings. The deadline for abstract submission is: 1 March 2013.
