One dimensional models of beams, cables and beam-like structures

Dear Colleague,

I am pleased to inform you I am organizing the mini-symposium: "MS-23:
"One dimensional Models of Beams, Cables and Beam-like Structures"
in the 4th Canadian Conference on Nonlinear Solid Mechanics (CanCNSM2013), which will be held in Montreal, Canada in July 23-26, 2013.

The aim of the Mini-Symposium is to collect and enhance the research in the field of mechanics of "non-standard" beams and cables. Among them: Thin-Walled Beams with deformable cross-section, multi-layered beams, homogenized trusses, stranded cables, bundles of cables, helical springs, and so on. Both modelling problems and phenomenological investigations will be addressed, in all the fields of structural mechanics: linear and nonlinear static response; buckling and post-buckling; linear and nonlinear dynamics; dynamic bifurcations. Analytical (e.g. perturbation) methods, numerical approaches (e.g. FEM, GBT, Finite Strips) and experimental techniques will be of interest, as well comparison between one-dimensional rough models and three-dimensional fine models. Special regard will be given to advanced theoretical questions and technical applications.

You are kindly invited to participate to the mini-symposium, by submitting a paper. The deadline for abstract submission is March 1, 2013.

The best papers will be considered for publication on a Springer Volume Series on "Advances in Mechanics and Mathematics".

Please visit the website for the most up to date information regarding registration, abstract submission and hotel reservation.

Yours sincerely,
Angelo Luongo
